Yesterday me and my friend Hika went hiking. We hiked from DB to Mui Wo, (I think that is how you spell it) lol. I think it was about a 2 hour hike and we toke Hika’s dog, Fluffy. He is a Poradomian (breed) or something like that anyway. After about half way up the hike Fluffy wouldn’t get up from laying on the ground so Hika’s mum had to carry him. We had lunch in Mui Wo and we went to the exact place we went to at the Nam Shan camp. We all had a sandwitch and it was really filling! After lunch we caught a ferry to Central and everyone slept besides me and Fluffy. Then we got another ferry back to DB. At DB we went to the rockpools. You arent meant to swim in there but it is soooooooooo fun! There is this huge rock that you jump off into the water. Fluffy had a swim too so he wasn’t that fluffy anymore. I had a great time and I really want to go to the rockpools again.
’Munch, Munch, Munch,’ I gobbled. I loved chicken wraps. We were having them for lunch. I looked over at my twin and sighed slowly. She was cutting up the chicken into little bits and putting them in her pink mouth being very careful not to get ketchup on her cheeks. I already had it all over my face. I looked like a blood thirsty vampire.
’Please Hailey, your being a dope, wipe your face, darling,’ Mum told me in her sweet girly voice.
’Girls,’ Dad announced,
I looked at Karsen. Her glittering green eyes stared right back into mine. ‘This can’t be good,’ I whispered to her.
’Your mother and I simply can’t live together anymore, we are fighting every night when you are up in your bed ,’ Dad said sternly.
’Hailey, you and I are moving to Scotland, to live in your father’s old house,’ Mum said slowly.
’Cool,’ Karsen said happily, ‘ So were moving to Scotland? Wait, were is Dad going to go?’
’Karsen, your staying here with Dad. We’re getting split up,’ I whispered to her.
’W-what?’ she asked starting to cry. Tears trickled down the side of her pink cheek like she was standing outside when it was black rain. I stared at Dad in his long socks and green Scottish skirt. He used to live in Scotland. He gave me a look to tell me that he wasn’t kidding. ‘Are you for real?’ I asked, going all stiff.
’We wouldn’t joke around about something like this, Hailey.’ Dad replied.
An old grandfather clock struck inside of me. Ding dong, ding dong. ‘No.’ I said ‘No!’ I repeated but this time I was screaming. ‘Mum, Dad, how could you do this to us? Just because your lives aren’t so great, why do you have ruin ours?’ I was red raw! How come adults never think about how kids feel? They are so greedy and only think of themselves.
Karsen walked up to Mum, tears still rolling down her neck. ‘Mum,’ she said, ’You didn’t keep your promise, do you even remember it?’ Karsen asked.
”Yeah, I remember it clearly like it was yesterday. You promised me and Karsen that our family would never break apart. Why did you lie?’ I shouted.
’Please girls, that’s not the biggest problem right now.’ Mum told us.
’Oh, and what is, that your nail broke?’ I screamed. Mum looked down at her nail, rubbing carefully. ’See, so you do only think about yourself.’
’No,’ said Dad calmly, the biggest problem is that your mother and Hailey are leaving in a couple of days,’
’Ah, great and when exactly were you going to tell us. Like the day before?’ I yelled.
Karsen wasn’t there anymore. She had probably slipped away somehow. I knew exactly where she had gone. In the corner of our cupboard. We go there to talk when life isn’t going so well. I sqeezed inside with her. Her eyes were burning, she was burning.
’Come on, we can pull it off. We always do. We can do this can’t we?’ I said, still red hot from shouting.
She didn’t answer, she just sat there under all of the clothes. I didn’t make her talk. I sat thinking how hard this is going to be instead. I thought of never using the words, ‘our’ or ‘us’ or ‘we’ and only using ’me’ or ‘my’.
‘Hailey, I might cry at school because I will be sitting next to an empty desk,’ Karsen sobbed.
’Come on Karsen, get a grip. You are 9 years old now and you’re still crying.’ I replied. ‘You were born on the same day as me and it’s like your 5 years younger.’
There was a soft knock at the door of our room. ’Karsen, Hailey? Can I come in?’ Mum called . She didn’t wait for an answer, this is what she does when she truly doesn’t want to do something but it has to be done. She tip-toed in slowly. ‘Girls, I know your in there. Oh, come on I know it’s hard but come out little sweeties.’ she said softly.
We trotted out carefully.
’Come along Hailey, let’s get you packed for our big day.’ Mum said.
I went back in the cupboard the second I heard those words. I didn’t close the door because Karsen came to sit with me. I watched Mum pack my clothes and my toys in my bag. I closed my eyes, I thought about what we were going to do.
’Get up Hailey, don’t worry you can go to bed soon.’ Mum said.
I got out of the cupboard and buried myself under the covers of my bed. I mean our bed. Oh, great I’m speaking singles already.
The next morning Mum woke me up and said it was time to leave. I looked over at Karsen, her eyes were red and she kept shaking her head trying to make everything start all over again. Her long black hair shook wildly. I never cried but for the first time my heart overflowed with tears. I went to sit with Karsen. She put her arm on my shoulder the moment I sat down.
’It’s all happening to fast,’ I sobbed. I grabbed hold of Karsen’s hand. She squeezed it tightly.
Dad then ripped our hands apart and it felt like we were torn apart forever. Dad led me out to a taxi that was waiting for me and Mum. Dad pushed me into the taxi and the engine started. Karsen came running out of the house, tears still pouring out from her eyes. The taxi started to drive, Karsen gave me a small wave. I just stared at her. I stared though the back window of the taxi as we pulled away. Then, just like that she was gone.
After a short, sad flight we had finally arrived at Scotland. There was a long wide wire running across the floor. ‘MUM, LOOK OUT!!!’ I screamed. She was going to trip over the wire. It was to late. She flopped into the floor like she had just finished a long race.
‘Ok Mum get up now, just a simple fall,’ I said. ‘Mum. Mum! Mum? Oh, my gosh! Mum!’ I thought. I could feel my heart bang against my chest. ‘What to do, what to do?’ I asked myself.
Mum’s face was pale like when you rip a band aid off your finger. I looked around quickly. No one was around. ‘BANG, BANG, BANG,’ went my heart. My jaw clenched so tight I think my teeth were going to break. ’BANG, BANG,’ my heart went again. I was going to scream. ‘AHHHHHHHHH!’ I screamed.
’Huh?’ said a voice. I spun around quickly, my heart still banging but now banging harder. My heart slowed down once I saw who said that. A puny old man with gritty teeth. He had long socks just like Dad’s.
’Oh, please help me sir, I don’t know what to do. Look at my Mum. I am Hailey Parker, please help me,’ I sobbed.
’Wow, I think that your Mum is unconscious. Hi, Hailey Parker, I am Bruce Lacey. Anyway, let’s get your Mum to the nurses bed. I just arrived in this country so I’m sorry I don’t know who to call,’ Bruce said quickly. ‘Do you know who to call, Hailey?’
’I have a Dad who used to live here that I could call,’ I said shakily. ‘He could fly up here because it only takes half an hour to get here.
’Great!’ said Bruce, ‘here’s my mobile.
I snatched it out of his matchstick fingers and dialled Dad’s number.
’Hello, Karsen Parker here,’ answered Karsen.
’Hi, Karsen, it’s Hailey. You have to get up here quick. Mum’s knocked out and I don’t know what to do. You and Dad have got to come to me,’ I cried.
’What? OK, I’ll tell Dad and we will be there in 30 minutes. Bye,’ Karsen replied.
She hung up and I told Bruce that they would be here in half an hour.
’Let’s get your Mum on that bed in the nurse’s office, ay?’ Bruce said.
’OK,’ I replied. ‘Is the nurse here?’ I asked hopefully.
’No, darling I’m afraid not,’ he answered.
We sort of dragged Mum to the bed. It wasn’t very soft, it was more like rock hard. ‘Just to tell you so you don’t get knocked out to, my twin is coming. Just remember, you’re not seeing double,’ I warned him.
’Lucky you, I won’t pass out, I know what it’s like. I am a twin,’ he said proudly. I was relieved by this but I couldn’t imagine two mini men like Bruce.
After staring at Mum for AGES Karsen and Dad finally arrived. It felt like I was swimming though glimmering waters on a wonderful summer’s day when I saw Karsen. I could see she felt the same way. Dad grabbed the mobile out of my hands. He pressed some of the buttons and he got Mum booked for the hospital.
’Dad? Why couldn’t tell us what to do on the phone?’ I asked.
’That dosen’t matter right now, you wouldn’t understand,’ he said. ‘Lets get your Mum to the hospital.’
We got to the hospital after a while in a bus. Mum’s red hair stuck up all over the place. When we got to a hospital a nurse called Mary told me, Bruce, Dad and Karsen to give Mum some space. After a while Dad was called in to the room where Mum was. We could see Dad in the window. Suddenly he blurted into tears.
’No!’ I said, starting to cry. My heart flooded with tears again. What will life be without Mum?
A doctor walked out of the room smiling. ‘What are you smiling about huh? This isn’t a happy situation. Mum is gone isn’t she? Why didn’t you save her?’ I sobbed.
’Please little girl, your Mum is fine,’ he said happily.
My heart totally slowed down. ‘Can I see her?’
’Of course you can!’
I walked into the room with Karsen. Mum was staring into Dad’s eyes. They weren’t moving, or blinking. Just staring.
’Thank you for saving me Nicki.’ Mum said to Dad sweetly.
’You are so welcome Sharon.’ Dad said to Mum.
We all then lived together. Mum, Dad, Karsen and me. We got a new huge house with twin beds in our room and a giant pool. Everything in the house there was two of. Bruce came to visit every Friday and it is always so good to see him. Mum always make him some coffee when he comes round because if it wasn’t for him Mum wouldn’t be here right now.
On the 29th of October in Seething Airfeild, a plane crashed killing the captain, Steve Shutt and the co-captain, Ian Davies. Ian and Steve lost control of the aircraft while the plane’s wheel got caught on a parked tractor in in the grassland. The plane then flipped over on the tractor. Andrew Hills, the tractor driver that happened to be inside the veicle lukily escaped injry when he reilised that the plane was attched. Ian Davies, 49 died at the scene. Steve Shutt, 51 died in Addenbrookes hopital. When the plane flipped over Steve banged his head extra hard which caused him to recive brain damage. The aircraft bursted into flames so Steve got badly burnt and he breathed in to much smoke from the fire which gave his chest damage. The hopital wanted to make Steve have something else on his mind than what happened to Ian so they trimmed his mouthsathe every day so he would be happy and not be sad that Ian is no longer there, if he woke up from his comer. Paula, Steve’s wife was waiting for him at the Hingham, Norfolk. When she heard about what had happened about the plane she started to panic and quickly travelled to the hospital. She crossed her fingers and hoped for a good turn out. Andrew is in such shock he is to afraid to tell investagaters what happened and it has over two months from now.
I think it is very sad to the people that knew Steve and Ian. It is a really disapointing that Steve Shutt and Ian Davies died. They will be greatly missed.
Hi Everyone, sorry I haven’t been writing that much lately. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! I’m now going to talk about Gravity! Gravity is one of the 4 forces which are Gravity, Friction, pushing and pulling. Gravity is a force that pulls everything to the center of the earth. Of course we are not pulled right to the center because that would be crazy! But the real reason is because we can’t be pulled though the ground. Gravity stops us from floating around. It makes us stay put on the ground. As you are reading this don’t just think about it as a bunch of words, think of each one carefully as you read them, and if you really think hard, it is really amazing! The bigger the object the stronger graving has to pull. There is no gravity on the moon because the moon is so much smaller than earth, were all the gravity is. Every single object has gravity. This is why if you drop a pencil it goes down. Don’t you think that is so cool? I do. Since I was three I have wondered if we are in space. Well now I know. We are in space but we all think space is higher than the sky, well yes it is but we are almost in the middle of earth and if you want to go to space you have to travel up and up until you get out of earth.
On Monday 12th of January, a faboulus job became available to anyone who wants to explore the wonders of Austraila’s downunder in Hamilton Island waters. Hamilton Island is just off mainland Australia, not far from Queensland. This wonderful job is for someone who loves life and wants to life it to the maximum while getting paid is 6,000 pounds per month. For six months you will snorkel and swim in the warm waters surrounding the Great Barrier Reef, recording your experiences and taking photos.
The job website was hit with 330,000 inquiries and 63,000 were from the UK. The people in the UK are keen to escape the cold for the warm sunshine and glimmering water of the Great Barrier Reef.
I think it would be a great job for anyone who likes an adventure and doesn’t mind taking the plunge. It would be an experience to remember for a lifetime.
As you probably know, I went to Australia just after Christmas. (On the 27th of December)I had a great time with my friends and family. I went on a sleepover at my 2nd best friend’s house. My best friend and 3rd best came too. It was the best sleepover because we woke up at 5:30 and went swimming in my friend’s pool and we stayed up real late, had a midnight feast of chips, strawberries and grapes, then we slept. It was such a fantastic party because it was so nice to see all of my friends again after a whole year.
The next sleepover was a surprise! My best friend, 2nd and 3rd besties and two other friends and I all went to the park on a Friday night and had fish and chips. The two other friends had to leave early because on of them had a little sister to pick up from ballet and the other was really tired because she had a Irish dancing competition the day before and she came 2nd! When they both had left my 2nd best friend told us that we were all coming to her house for the night. We all were jumping up and down with happiness.
We all were pretty tired so we didn’t stay up as long as we wanted. After one of us told a scary bedtime story we all slipped away into dreamland. In the morning we got up at 5:15 and went for a very cold swim. We all jumped in holding hands and it felt like we were in the North Pole wearing t-shirts and shorts. It was a great sleepover but not as good as the first on because the water was so cold and we didn’t stay in the pool that long.
The last sleepover was at my best best friend’s house. It was the best sleepover of all. The first thing we did was to ride our ripsticks together, down the road. Then we had dinner. Dinner was yummy sausages and potatoes. It was so good to eat sausages again because you can’t get them in Hong Kong. When we went to bed we connected on our DS”, ate some marshmallows and then my best friend played my DS while I was asleep, but I let her. She didn’t just take it and play it. In the morning we talked while we rode our ripsticks down the street. We went to the movies after that and saw Marley And Me. The movie was so sad, but I can’t tell you why because that would give it away. It was so fun because we spent so much time together and that all we really wanted.
